The DARPA Lift Challenge is offering $6.5 million to encourage new designs for unmanned aircraft systems (AKA aerial drones) that can carry payloads more than four times their weight. This improvement would redefine vertical lift aviation, unlocking a new range of possibilities for both military and civilian applications.

But it’s not just a prize competition – it's a catalyst for long-term growth and innovation of the American drone industry. Participants will play a critical role in advancing vertical lift technologies that will have far-reaching benefits for the entire drone industry.

Help DARPA achieve its goal of cultivating a thriving ecosystem of drone innovation in America by contributing to participating teams.

How Contributing Works

Regardless of contribution type, companies who develop domestic products, as defined by the Buy American Act, are welcome to publish a digital business card on the portal, showcasing the resources they are offering to the DARPA Lift Challenge competitors. These companies will be referred to as “Contributors.”

Competitors will directly engage with Contributors. DARPA will not be involved in the negotiation process.
